The second-hand marketplace Members Share Frustration Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
